Victorian Desalination Project – Visualisations

The Victorian Desalination Project will be capable of providing up to 150 gigalitres of water for Melbourne and regional water networks.
ASPECT Studios, working with architects ARM and peckvonhartel, engineers Parsons Brinckerhoff and Beca, and ecologists Practical Ecology, has delivered the landscape and ecological design services for the project, and continue to provide construction phase design services.

As part of the project, our Digital Studio has prepared a number of photomontages and visualisations to assist during the design review and approvals process and for community information purposes. In developing and maintaining a 3d master model, the digital studio has been able to support the design team in resolving design issues and update graphic representations of how the final landscape is expected to appear, all as the design has evolved.

The prepared media has helped demonstrate the minimal visual impacts that the plant will have from key publically accessible viewpoints surrounding the project site. Our scope included the production of an animation of the project, which has been utilized to communicate to the wider public. This has since featured in the ‘Build it Bigger’ documentary on the Discovery Science Channel.
