The Narrabeen Lagoon trail is a multi-layered recreational shared trail for pedestrians and cyclists. ASPECT Studios’ upgrades enhance the existing trail around Narrabeen Lagoon and facilitate access and usability to this exceptional natural resource. The walk spans from Deep Creek to Middle Creek on Sydney’s northern beaches.
This 2.5 kilometre section of trail is the first installment of a shared pedestrian/cycle pathway and now completes the entire loop around Narrabeen Lagoon. A timber and fibreglass panelled boardwalk has been designed with seating and a series of sculptural look out points which take you from the bush to the lagoon edge, together with a pedestrian/cycle bridge at Deep Creek.
The trail provides a benchmark for the materials, construction methods and fine detailing for the subsequent stages to be built in time. Material selection is sustainable, low maintenance, durable and appropriate for its bushland setting. The look outs and the walkway itself were sensitively designed to minimise impact on the threatened vegetation fringing the lagoon foreshore, and to provide a unique design outcome which is specific to this place.
